Last week our team were happily imaging away when one of our support team encountered the error 0x80070490 at the very start of the task sequence. (See screenshot below)
To resolve the issue, I pressed F8 on the computer exhibiting the error, then at the command prompt typed in: diskpart
Once at the DISKPART> prompt I then typed LIST DISK and the response was ‘ There are no fixed disks to show‘
This response indicated that there was a hardware issue with the hard disk on this computer.
Solution: We replaced the faulty hard disk – this resolved the issue.
When you execute the command LIST DISK in diskpart it should display the detected hard disks as per the screenshot below taken from a working computer:
